Michelle Hekel recently joined the Family and Children’s Council of Black Hawk County’s board of directors. Hekel works in BerganKDV’s Cedar Valley office, where she is an assurance supervisor.
The Family and Children’s Council of Black Hawk County is a nonprofit organization established to make sure every child is happy, healthy and safe by working to prevent child abuse and strengthen families in Black Hawk County.
“The work the Family and Children’s Council performs is such a valuable service to parents and educators in our community”, said Cedar Valley Market Leader Crystal Ford, “I applaud Michelle for sharing her time and talent with this remarkable organization. She will be a wonderful addition to their board.”
Hekel earned her master’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa. At BerganKDV, Hekel is responsible for supervising the performance of audits along with the quality and timeliness of services provided. She facilitates the audit process by regularly communicating with the organization’s staff as well as the assurance partner. Hekel specializes in employee benefit plan audits and nonprofit audits, including audits subject to Uniform Guidance requirements.
