Security Alert: Meltdown and Spectre Hardware Bugs Put Nearly All Devices at Risk

January 5, 2018 | BerganKDV Team

Meltdown and Spectre are two hardware bugs recently discovered by security researchers. Described as some the worst CPU bugs ever found,  they could let hackers steal sensitive information from nearly every modern computing device. The flaws could allow an attacker some of the following capabilities:

  • Read sensitive data stored in the memory of the device (like passwords)
  • Look at what tabs you may have open on your computer

While experts say a hack may be difficult to execute, billions of devices are susceptible to these exploits. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS PROACTIVE ALERT. AT THIS TIME THERE ARE NO KNOWN EXPLOITS THAT HAVE OCCURRED.

The Technology team at BerganKDV is working with our vendors and reviewing patches to determine the best course of action to protect your devices and infrastructure. We will communicate with our clients as details become available.
