Now in its 18th year of publication, Construction Executive (CE) is the leading trade magazine about the business of construction. In its July/August 2020 issue, CE published a comprehensive ranking of The Top 50 Construction Accounting Firms™ featuring breakouts and analysis accompanied by an article in which leading accounting experts discuss their construction clients’ most pressing business concerns.
BerganKDV was ranked #20 in this year’s list with 15.36% of the firm’s revenue coming from more than 1,000 construction clients in 2019. To determine the ranking, CE asked hundreds of U.S. accounting firms with a construction practice to complete a survey.*
“It is an honor to be included in this year’s ranking,” said BerganKDV CEO Dave Hinnenkamp, “Our construction clients are grappling with worries over potential workforce shortages, cash flow management, increasing costs and reducing risks for their workers. I am thankful to have the talent on our team to provide them with guidance and support during these unprecedented times. Being included in The Top 50 list gives the much-deserved accolades to our team members who are helping our clients navigate so many challenges.”
Construction Executive is the magazine for the business of construction. It reaches more than 55,000 commercial, industrial and institutional contractors and construction-related business owners and has won more than 20 editorial awards. Since first being published by Associated Builders and Contractors Services Corp. in 2003, the magazine has served as the leading source for news, market developments and business issues impacting the construction industry.
*Data collected included: 1) 2019 revenues from construction practice; 2) number of CPAs in construction practice; 3) percentage of firm’s total revenues from construction practice; 4) number of construction clients in 2019; 5) number of office locations with a construction accounting practice; 6) number of employees with CCIFP certification; and 7) year construction accounting practice established. The ranking was determined by an algorithm that weighted these factors in descending order of importance. Note: A number of accounting firms elected not to share revenues, which affected their ranking. As a result, CE has provided additional breakouts, such as “Top 10 Accounting Firms Ranked by Number of Construction CPAs,” which includes some of the firms that chose not to report revenues.
