BerganKDV’s board of directors elected Becky Morgan, CPA as chairwoman. Morgan is a partner in the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids (ICR) market with more than 15 years of experience as an accountant for the firm. She began her career at BerganKDV in 2002, rising through the ranks from staff accountant to partner.
A graduate of both Coe College (bachelor’s, math) and the University of Northern Iowa (bachelor’s, accounting), Becky came to the accounting field after teaching high school math and helping in the family turkey farming operation. Both of those experiences helped her realize her acumen for accounting and the importance of developing relationships with clients.
“When I was a teacher, someone once told me that the students will only care about what you know after they know that you care,” said Morgan, “I have carried that same philosophy with me in my career as a CPA. Clients need to know I am in their corner first and foremost, and that I will apply my technical knowledge to help them find solutions to their challenges.”
The board of directors’ role is to help define the long-term vision for the firm and to empower the firm’s leadership to direct and execute on this vision. Morgan’s appointment makes her the first female to be named chairwoman and one of 18 females who have held board or leadership positions over the course of the past several years.
“I look forward to working with Becky in her role as chairwoman. She is passionate about empowering those around her and providing exceptional attention to our clients,” said CEO Dave Hinnenkamp, “Becky is a demonstrated leader in the firm and she and her fellow board members’ support is critical for our leadership team to have the tools they need to efficiently and effectively operate to achieve the firm’s goals.”
