National Volunteer Week, celebrated from April 7-13, is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service on our communities. The local events, volunteer projects and social media conversations that take place during the week demonstrate that every individual has the power to create change – taking action to tackle society’s greatest challenges and build stronger, more resilient communities.
At BerganKDV, team members are offered eight hours of paid volunteer time per year to get out in the community and serve, whether at their child’s school, at a local food bank or for any other cause or group they care about. In 2018, nearly 2,000 hours of time were donated back into the community through volunteering and participating in charitable events. And, that is only the time that is accounted for during work hours. Many BerganKDV team members serve their communities outside of the workday as well.
“National Volunteer Week gives us a chance to recognize the great things our team members are doing in the community,” said Talent Director Cori Power, “BerganKDV is proud to offer paid time to our staff to encourage them to lend their time and talent to the causes they are passionate about.”
National Volunteer Week was established in 1974 and has grown exponentially each year, with thousands of volunteer projects and special events scheduled throughout the week. It is an opportunity to honor the impact of all those who do good in our communities and inspire others to make a difference to improve the world.
